Headbangers Alert: Iced Earth Alive in Limassol 2012

Iced Earth, the Legendary American Power Metal band, after their successful first ever appearance in Cyprus last year, return to our island for the professional recording of their upcoming CD/DVD production "Alive in Cyprus 2012".  The concert will take place at Ancient Kourion Theatre on 19/08/2012.

Message from Jon Schaffer (Captain/Guitarist):

My metal brothers and sisters!

As some of you know, we are going to record a new DVD later this summer in the ancient Kourion Theater in Limassol, Cyprus.

As I said in a recent post, the decision of which city around the world to film a show was not an easy one, considering all the great responses we received on these last 2 legs of the world tour. But in the end, the atmosphere in Cyprus was so electric and intense that we felt this was the obvious choice this time around.

Well, not only are the crowds in Cyprus amazing, but you can see what an awesome and intimate atmosphere we will be recording in by following the link below. http://youtu.be/ys4eXICSoEU

This theater has been around for thousands of years and has been witness to the Greek, Roman and Byzantine Empires. This will be a truly spectacular place to film, and the boys and I can’t wait to make it happen. We have a hell of a set list and show planned that will span the entire Iced Earth catalog!

I urge any fans around the world, that have the means to travel, to get their tickets soon and join us on August 19th, 2012, in the beautiful and historic country of Cyprus, for an event that will surely be one of the highlights of Iced Earth’s history.

Best to you all, and see you on the road soon!

Jon Schaffer

El Capitan Daniel Quinteros leaves Apollon/Blasts the team's board of Directors

Daniel Quinteros, the Captain/heart and soul of Apollon FC has decided today that he has no option but to leave the Club, disgusted with the team's Board and the financial misery they created after their antics drove Columbia, the team's largest sponsor out of the Club.

El Capitan, who has a tattoo with the date Apollon FC won the Cyprus Cup last year took a long time to take his final decision while he was back home in Argentina for holidays, as he found it hard to leave the Club due to his feelings towards the club's fans.

Dani stated in Facebook that the club's proud fans deserve men with bigger 'cojones' to lead the Club to glory.

Quinteros' Facebook post follows

Today is one of the saddest days of my sporting life, comes to an end a story of love and respect between me and all fans of Apollon, I can only say thank you for so warmly received, the colors Blue and White will always carry the in my heart, thanks to all supporters to respect these three years that were beautiful and remain forever impressed on me and my family

I appreciate all the messages I received, I feel very proud, I'm sure the love between us no one nor any of the lies they said it will break

The beauty of football is the friends that one is leaving, and fortunately left many in Limassol, would be very difficult to name them all but appoints some on behalf of all, Aldo, Panikos, Panayiotis, Savas, Socratis, Nicos, Kyriacos, Charis, Stella , Thymios, thank you very much to all

The last thing I would say is for those responsible for managing the club, never forget that Apollon is a very big club and therefore needs people that live up to these circumstances, and in my humble opinion I think none of you has enough that this beautiful club hierarchy needs

Thanks and see you soon

Thank you too Captain. You have been a true Leader for this Club. "Gentlemen" of the Board beware...the Fans are watching you

RIVER PLATE DESCENDIDO A LA B

River Plate were relegated for the first time in their history.
"La Mala Hora" inevitably arrived after they drew 1-1 with Belgrano. The visitors had won the first tie with score 2-0. Tears poured, clashes between the Police and the wounded River fans began...

Here's a round-up of this momento historico. The fans were chanting "matar o morir". To kill or to die. Sounds interesting.

HOW TO MAKE A FRAPPE

Today we are going to talk about Frappe, the "traditional" Greek instant iced coffee. There are many folk stories about the origins of Frappe (I'm not buying the Wiki b.s) but we are just focusing on how to make one.
For me it's an enjoyable cold drink that you can have especially in the warmer months of the year but Greeks would argue that they have Frappes all year long.

Ingredients:
Coffee , preferably Nestle's Nescafe

Sugar - optional
Milk - optional. In case you want milk, you can either use evaporated milk ("NOUNOU" that comes in mini portions is the obvious Greek choice) or Fresh Milk (Cypriot choice).

Water
Ice cubes

Mixing Tools:
There are 2 common types of mixers that people use to make their Frappes, a hand mixer (with a power cord or battery operated) and a type of mixer machine sitting on a base.

Personally I prefer a hand mixer because you are more flexible with the different kinds of glasses you are using. Taller glasses for the hardcore frappe lover cannot be used with a base mixer. The metal rod just cannot reach the bottom of the glass for it to mix the ingredients.
Warning: If you are thinking of purchasing a hand mixer do not confuse it with a frother. A frother looks like this.

See the difference in the tip of the machine? This cannot do the trick fellas.

Preparation:
-Take an empty glass and add 1 good teaspoon of coffee in it. Then pour water on top just to cover the coffee.
-Take your mixer and start mixing the water with the coffee for a few seconds until the mixture becomes like a light brown foam. Take your glass and have a look at the bottom. If you see any coffee traces just mix it a bit more until it all becomes foamy.
-Add 3-4 ice cubes on top of the mixture. (Depending on the size of the ice cubes you can use less or more)
-Simply pour cold water to fill up the glass and you are finished!

Your frappe is served with a straw and should look like this:

NOTE:
If you want sugar with your coffee you should put it along with the coffee before you mix.
And say if you want milk you should pour the milk along with the cold water in the end.

COMMON MISTAKES
-Too much water at the beginning leads to more foam when mixed and leaves no room for the water. Try to juuust cover the teaspoon of coffee with the water.
-Frappe is too bitter or too weak. This is all about personal taste and experience. A medium sized glass would require only one teaspoon of coffee and no less. A bigger glass could take up to 2 teaspoons.
-You are wondering: Why am I chewing chunks of coffee? Try to mix the coffee to perfection in able to avoid this nasty feeling.
